Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in drinking water and many foods. Dental research scientists and dentists throughout the world over have acknowledged the dental health benefits of fluoride for many years.

Most people have the misconception the quantity of fluoride they receive in tap water and toothpaste is sufficient. This is not always the case and fluoride therapy may be the solution to a wide assortment of dental health conditions.

Many people are predisposed to getting recurring or secondary decay around existing fillings. Properly applied fluoride can prevent dental decay by forming a more acid-resistant exterior layer and may even reverse early forming dental cavities.

Much research in dental science have shown that just applying fluoride into a city’s supply of drinking water can decrease its population’s incidence of dental decay by fifty percent. Starting by the age of six years old, your dentist ought be implementing a strategy to reduce dental tooth decay that includes regular dental checkups, appropriate use of fluoride, dental sealants, along with educating on good brushing and flossing practices.

Fluoride also aids with inhibiting bleeding and tender gums in early gum disease, thereby helping to manage the disorder in the early stages. Fluoride can also help stop re-infection and sustain ongoing treatments in cases of advanced gum disease.

Fluoride varnishes from a dentist is recommended in the handling of dental tooth sensitivity, usually due to gum recession, and have the extra advantage of providing extra protection from dental decay. A dentist uses the fluoride varnish on exposed surface of the tooth root. Fluoride works by blocking the nerve endings on the surfaces of exposed roots, thereby alleviating the sensitivity in these regions.

For those individuals with dentures or dental implants, fluoride can play a vital role in preventing early implant surgery failure by averting the build up of plaque, and in treating bad breath and as well as inflammation from dentures.

Fluoride is not without problems. Too much fluoride ingestion by young children in the form of toothpaste can result in a condition called, dental fluorosis. Dental fluorosis is the discoloration and, in severe situations, the pitting of the permanent teeth. Dental fluorosis usually manifests as a mild or very mild mottling of teeth when excessive levels of fluoride have been ingested while adult tooth enamel is forming.

Orthodontic treatment for teeth is very expensive and is mostly passed up by the people, if they have no cover for such treatments. It will cost you roughly about $2000 and the expensive nature makes it unaffordable for many. When people have orthodontic coverage included in their dental insurance policy, they then will go for this expensive procedure. Once you have orthodontic coverage included in your dental insurance policy, then any dental problems can be tackled with the help of this policy. Many just leave out orthodontic coverage inclusion from their dental insurance plans just to lower their premium amount payable to the insurance organization, but they are looking at short term gains and overlooking long term consequences.

Adults must always buy a dental health insurance plan that allows coverage for all orthodontic procedures which are very costly. Most of the insurance providers may not include orthodontic treatments as part of the dental health insurance policy due to the expensive costs associated with it. Many insurance providers leave out orthodontic treatments from the scope of the policies and give coverage for minor treatments just to generate more profits. It is in your interest to get that policy which allows for all orthodontic treatments, which when attempted without any insurance cover will certainly put a big hole in your pocket. In adulthood there will be a need for some orthodontic care for many and it is in your interest to make provisions for its inclusion in the dental health insurance plans to tide over it successfully.

When your cost of buying a dental health insurance policy is low, we can immediately infer that it does not allow for such treatments. In such a case, you can go for additional supplemental dental health insurance policy that provides for orthodontic treatments. You have to note that leaving out orthodontic treatment from a dental health insurance policy is not advisable. Your cost of acquiring a policy with coverage for all orthodontic treatments will be certainly higher when compared to a policy without it, but the savings you can gen

Tooth decay is the most common global disease caused by acid demineralisation that exceeds remineralisation where food containing carbohydrate like sugar rich confection or chocolate is left trapped on teeth. Sugar rich chocolate like other carbohydrate foods, is often consumed regularly especially at Easter, Christmas, birthdays and thousands of other occasions causing a small episodes of acid demineralisation that eventually develop into cavities where demineralisation exceeds remineralisation. Most food is trapped between teeth, but over 80% of cavities occur inside pits and fissures on chewing surfaces of back teeth where brushing cannot reach and saliva has no access to dilute sugars, neutralise acid and remineralise demineralised teeth like on easy to reach surfaces.

The first bite or so of any food is trapped between teeth and inside pits and fissures and is hard to displace blocking access to the rest of the meal or snack for a time. Chewing sugar free food like chocolate or nuts before meals or snacks can reduce demineralisation from carbohydrate in that food and can even help remineralisation. Chewing fibre like celery after eating forces saliva inside trapped food to dilute carbohydrate like sugar, neutralise acid and remineralise demineralised tooth. Chewing gum is also helpful but cannot absorb and expel saliva like celery and needs chewing for longer. Chewing sugar free chocolate before meals or snacks has dental health benefits that can be applied to other sugarless foods and developed into a more effective convenient before eating tasty dental health snack that could even aid remineralisation after eating.

Our uniqueness will defer in all aspects. Our body chemistry also varies with each other. That is why, there are some things that we think we need but the truth is we don’t. One good example is men and women. Man has a constant teeth condition but depends on his lifestyle. However, a woman who becomes pregnant has an unpredicted oral health condition. We brush our teeth today but forget on the next day. That is a bad habit. Brushing is the most basic and important process we do every day. We should do it after meals. This is the first point to regulate the growth of bacteria.

Aside from helping in developing children’s teeth this is also able in intensification adult’s teeth. Fluoride prevents protection from tooth decay. Removing particles in between teeth is another way to control bacteria development. As a result it will give you fresh breath and strong gums and teeth. Eating healthy food reach in nutrients that improves the teeth condition. This also includes in the prevention of eating too many sweets. Bacteria develop fast when sugar is present. That is why after eating sweets, we get bad breath.

Tartar causes teeth discoloration and decay. It is unlikely to smile or talk to people with such a condition. It is advised to stop smoking because it has a high rate of tartar. Do not do anything with your mouth who may harm yourself. Rather, check if everything is in a good state. Check everything if you have decayed tooth, canker sores, inflamed gums, and discolored tooth. This will help you know what to do in cases something goes wrong.

One of the most common procedures in cosmetic dentistry is teeth whitening, it seems that every day more and more people from all over the world want to have brighter and more attractive smiles, this is mostly because a whiter smile is considered an indicator of good oral health and it also turns out to be visually pleasant. The main problem with this cover up procedure is that those who’ve decided to only whiten their teeth are 100% thinking about the cosmetic benefits of this dental treatment instead of being the last step off a carefully planned oral treatment which has been made to improve the overall dental health.

Teeth whitening is also very popular because it is virtually a painless procedure, those who are interested only have to set an appointment with their dentist who are according to the budget of the person will recommend a home-based treatment or a faster method such as laser whitening. With so many white smiles most people will assume that there isn’t a single problem with the fact of the matter is that tooth whitening is being used to cover other problems.

It has been estimated that nearly 9 out of 10 Americans suffer from some sort of tooth decay and one in three Americans over the age of 30 suffer from gum disease which is also known as periodontis. According to researchers who conducted the same study not many people are getting a sufficient amount of fluoride which is the substance which prevents tooth decay and has all the minerals necessary in order to restore and strengthening the Enamel in teeth.

As you see, having a wide smile is not all there is to it when it comes to oral health, paying a visit to the dentist at least twice a year in order to get regular cleanups in a fluoride/sealant treatment can keep your teeth truly healthy. Your dentist may also recommend other procedures in order to prevent tooth decay, formation of cavities and gum diseases which are very hard to treat. If you are genuinely interested in improving the overall dental health as well as the appearance of your smile you should seriously consider paying a visit to the dentist who will be able to refer you to a specialist if your condition requires special treatment before a cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening is performed.

To most people, brushing their teeth is a boring chore. If you brush your teeth for more than 30 seconds in the morning and at night, you might find yourself actually in the minority! In reality, dentists recommend a whole two minutes each time you brush your teeth. Without a doubt, having an electric toothbrush is a must. Most electric toothbrushes come with a two minute timer that will shut off after two minutes of brushing to let you know when you are done. Also, by using an electric toothbrush, you do not damage your gums by pressing the toothbrush hard against your teeth. By following this process, we can make a good decision based on ones needs and ability.

* Ask your dentist! There are some things that you are going to need to find out before you buy your electric toothbrush – such as: How healthy are my gums? What type of brush head is better for me? What features should my toothbrush come with?

* Figure out your price range. Some electric toothbrushes can be purchased for fairly cheap. Just remember the ancient saying that you get what you pay for. The same is true here. Generally, a good electric toothbrush for an adult might run anywhere from $80 – $150. If it is a kids electric toothbrush that you are looking for, you may find it for much cheaper.

* After you know the price range and in what state your gums are, you can make a decision on the brush head. For example, if your gums cannot support firm bristles, make sure you find brush heads with softer bristles.

* Check out Electric Toothbrush ratings. The general public has done the homework for you already, and can determine fairly well, which Electric Toothbrushes are more durable, and are more of a bang for your buck.

Having a healthy smile is the foundation of making good impressions, and lasting relationships. For more information when you buy your electric toothbrush, visit OralB.com to find out what factors to consider when choosing an electric toothbrush and what is the best electric toothbrush for you.

The Oral-B brand is a worldwide leader in the over $5 billion brushing market. Part of the Procter & Gamble Company since 2006, the Oral-B brand includes manual and power toothbrushes for children and adults, oral irrigators, oral care centers and interdental products, such as dental floss. Oral-B manual toothbrushes are used by more dentists than any other brand in the U.S. and worldwide.
